College in the High School

College in the High School is a cooperative program between Lakewood School District and Everett Community College (EvCC). Students simultaneously earn high school and college credit for coursework in pre-approved advanced high school courses. Students can work towards their high school diploma and college 2-year Direct Transfer (AA) degree ON OUR CAMPUS. 

What is the College in the High School (CHS) Program?

Courses are taught at Lakewood High School (LHS) by LHS teachers.  

  • Students register online with EvCC
  • No tuition, books, or transportation costs.
  • Students can receive college credit and high school credit upon successful completion.  
  • College in the High School Courses currently offered at Lakewood High School include:
    • English 101, English 111 
    • Pre-Calculus, Calculus
    • Spanish III, Spanish IV
    • Honors U.S. History, Honors Government
    • Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Biology/Forensics, Ocean/Marine Biology 

How do I apply for CHS courses?

College in the High School Registration Information - it is VERY IMPORTANT to monitor your email closely through the entire process!

How much is the cost for each CHS course?

There are no tuition, books, or transportation costs.

Who do we contact if we need assistance?

It is up to the individual student to research their potential post-high school college choices and verify which credits will transfer. Students can work with their LHS College in the High School teacher(s) and their counselor.
